Adobe Max 2007 Awards

Friday, July 6th, 2007

I’m little curious about possibility to submit project to Adobe Max 2007 Awards. In official rules there are list of countries in which you have to be legal resident to allows you submit your project.

Here is list from official rules:
United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Republic of China, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, India, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey…

We are residents of Slovak Republic, so we are not allowed to submit project :( But I’m curious how was country list build, there are our neighbours: Czech Republis and Hungary :)

Can someone responsible from Adobe tell us something about country list, and if there is “some” possibility to submit project from other countries? My main reason is submit project from Slovak Republic :))

Thanks in advance,
Franto

I don’t know the full reasons why contests become either impossible or prohibitively expensive in certain countries.

I’ve searched over the years for a resource which lists some of the differences between local laws and financial implications, but I don’t yet know of a good explanation of national differences.

I’m confident such differences exist, but I don’t know how to find those rules either, sorry.

    Hi John,

i have to confess, im little bit confused from your answer. Does it means, that contest is prohibited by our local laws? Or what… I really don’t understand…

Now I’ve found that we are not allowed submit project to AIR Derby as well :((

I don’t think he necessarily means that your country prohibits such contests. It may be that your country requires that contest sponsors pay heavy fees, or it might be related to the fact that Adobe is based in a different country, or any number of reasons. I imagine that Adobe would like to make their contests open to anyone in the world, but if a country’s local laws have highly restricted requirements, Adobe and other companies sometimes need to decide to focus on countries that don’t present as many roadblocks.
