I’m still reading news about MTASC tool for Flash Developers. For you, who do not know, what does MTASC stands for, it is Motion-Twin ActionScript 2 Compiler. It is the first ActionScript 2 Open Source free compiler. It can compile large number of .as class files in a very short time and generate directly the corresponding SWF bytecode without relying on Macromedia Flash or other tools. You can check your actionscript syntax with this tools, as SEPY users can use it with another free open source tool for Flash Developer: SEPY ActionScript editor developed by Alessandro Crugnola.
But back to main purpose of this article: Today i have read in Jesse Warden blog, that he had tested MTASC speed with big project (98 classes). And what a surprise, MTASC is much much faster than internal compiler of Macromedia Flash MX 2004 IDE.
Compilation with internal compiler:
It takes roughly 30 to 46 seconds..
Compilation with MTASC:
It takes under 2 seconds.
I have just one word: Wow
