Flash 8 scrolling tilebased game test
Friday, July 22nd, 2005Here is another Flash 8 example: Flash 8 scrolling tilebased game test. On my 1Ghz Athlon it takes fluent 22 FPS.
Here are some interesting results from FlashCoders mailinglist
- A 1.42GHz G4 Mac Mini with 256MB RAM running Safari and a bunch of other apps yielded 51-52 fps
- Runs very smooth on my P4#2.4Ghz - 512MB ram box, i get 58-62fps.
- 31/32FPS, 3.0Ghz 1Gig, Flash, a bunch of firefox and a couple other apps open…
It seems Mac is hotter for Flash 8 ![]()
Enjoy.

I just tested on a Mac Mini and a Windows XP laptop (not sure of the spec. but it was high end about four years ago)
XP laptop 32 frames per sec.
Mac Mini 50-55 frames per sec.
BUT! I think the reason the Mac rate is so high is because the tiles aren’t displaying!!

made the random levels a little nicer, now there’s a method to the random generation instead of just 100% random. nothing else added.
